Joe Chianakas is a professor of communication at Illinois Central College. He has over twenty-two years of teaching experience both in secondary and higher education. Joe is the chair of ICC's Intercultural Diversity Committee. He is also a recipient of ICC's Gallion (Teacher-of-the-Year) Award, the highest honor given to faculty.

 

In addition, he is an author of over ten published books, most notably the award-winning fiction series Rabbit in Red and has two new novels slated for publication in 2023 with Roan and Weatherford Publishing. He received a Master's Degree in Speech Communication from North Dakota State University, a Master's Degree in Liberal Studies from Bradley University, a Bachelor's Degree in English from Eureka College, and an Associate's Degree from Illinois Central College.

Inspiring students in his greatest passion, other than long walks with his furbaby Bailey, a mini-Australian Shepherd. He lives in Peoria, IL with the love of his life, Brian.

Joe’s known for his horror series Rabbit in Red-- a three book trilogy that became a huge hit after multiple subscription boxes bought and mailed thousands of copies to horror fans around the world. Joe’s next horror novel, Darkness Calls, will be releasing in 2024.

Chianakas is currently represented by Amy Brewer of Metamorphosis Literary Agency and has multiple publishing contracts with Roan and Weatherford.
